Inspired by Italian Style and Design with Swiss watchmaking expertise, the Bulgari-Bulgari Moonphase model features the automatic Bulgari caliber B77 movement with moonphase complication. With launches such as this, Bulgari is definitely making some bold moves. Then again, what else should we expect from this brand?
But, if you want to separate yourself a bit more, you could also go classic. Like Cartier classic. The Cartier Love Watch in White Gold is an obvious and simple way to say I love you. Forever. The silvered sunray dial is subtle yet engaging on a wrist - the beauty, better to be seen up close.
MM: Tell me - How do watches fit into your life? Are you unique in your love for watches?
DP: Watches are a part of my daily life, as watches can be the best expressions of your personality. In the Opera world, there are many watch aficionados. Owning and being knowledgeable about fine timepieces shows that you have "arrived." Watches then become the ultimate status symbol amongst artful people who are like-minded and appreciate genuine craftsmanship.
One of the new watches takes a case and covers it with vulcanized rubber, for one of the coolest looks of the new line. This style places a thin rubber coating on the surfaces of the watch. The look doesn't exactly make them appear "high-market" but it is functional, and protects the metal underneath. The Tiffany & Co. Mark T-57 had some watches that also experimented with use of vulcanized rubber. There is also the new bracelet/strap quick change feature. A clip on the watch makes these elements modular and easy to change. I like this a lot as depending on your mood or need, a diving watch needs to have a different strap. This is a great functional addition to the Aquatimer line.
The talent and cleverness behind the designs are what make Itay Noy watches stand out. I particularly like the symbolism of the Holiday Everyday watch. The 'everyday side' has rows of repetitive numbers (see in the gallery below) that represent the hectic and often tedious nature of everyday life. The type of cluttered existence that requires one to "wipe the slate clean" every once in a while. Thus, the 'holiday side' is just blank. Expressing that a true vacation is one away from the modicum of everyday life as well as the stress and responsibilities thereof. A holiday is freedom, and the best type leaves your schedule totally open. Still the date is placed on the austere dial. Why? Perhaps to add to the functionality, or to remind us that while vacations are nice, they don't last forever, and we are always within calculated range of returning to our everyday lives.
The Linde Werdelin 2-Timer watch (that I reviewed here) is growing up to be the 3-Timer. The differences are enough shed new light on a watch that had never even lost a sparkle of shine. With the 3-Timer you get a more elegant look with less emphasis on sport, heading into the, “this watch goes with a suit” range. Wearing the 2-Timer with business attire would make you look a bit like a superhero with a secret identity who accidentally forgot to remove one of their outfit components.
And watching it all in motion is practically spiritual to watch. If only every thing worked so smooth.
Available in Stainless Steel or Rose Gold, with white or brown alligator leather straps, this is a completely wearable timepiece. Wearable and petite. With a 33mm case, this is a tiny watch (for my standards.) I usually gravitate towards the bigger, edgier, more masculine watches. But this Elite Caliber powered model from Zenith can fit easily into daily life, given its slim case, small dial, and delicate nature.

The idea behind the application is help connect with the estimated 25 million potential users who may be interested in the free application. Being able to directly send information to interested customers is extremely valuable, and can result in much faster and wider customer education of new products as well as give them a taste of what watches might be like before they are purchased. The first major hurdle was the creation of the application for Victorinox Swiss Army, the next challenge will be for them to utilize the full potential of the application. Ideally they will be tracking what watches garner the most interest from users, as well as send offers and other valuable information to the customers. The right way is to send a customer the full details of a watch a bit before it is released, and then when it is released remind them again with the product price. Too often watch companies just announce a product that isn't available for a long time afterward. A "news" item in the application should inform people that "the new Swiss Army model X" is out. Get one at "X" location (make sure they have it in stock) just 1 mile from your current location. That would be the best way to do it. We will have to see what ends up happening, but the signs are good that this is going to be a healthy new way for watch makers to interact with their customers in the near future. Swiss army watches tend to average in price at 0 - 0, but can go lower and obviously higher (,000 - ,000 or more). What works for this price point may not be a good idea for higher end watches, but it is worth testing the waters for all ranges of watch brands in my opinion.
Aside from the major functions, there are lots of little functions included to enhance the user experience; chimes that can be turned on and off, a useful night mode for the Indiglo backlight, among lots of other features which are nice to have around. The best part is that the interface is friendly and relatively intuitive. If you recall, I praised the Casio Pathfinder watches for doing so much, but complained that you need to be well trained in learning how to use them all. Timex really put a lot of effort in the UI (user interface) design and it shows. The biggest effect of that work was the large informative display screen. A lot of good information is just a glance away - rather than having to cycle through display screens. The default screen gives you the time in two ways (digital and [digital] analog), the temperature, the weather estimate (an image for sun, clouds, rain), and a switchable area that indicates the date and month, altimeter reading, or barometric pressure. Having this information right there is really helpful and nice to have. Timex has some graphics (sort of orange colored) on the back of the crystal that attempt to visually separate the areas on the LCD screen or add visuals. These aren't exactly necessary, but don't distract too much (though I wouldn't mind if most of it wasn't there), and add to the techie look of the watch.

The watch case is 44mm wide, housing an ETA 2824-2 automatic movement, with a sapphire crystal on the dial. The watch also comes in a beautiful handmade wooden box that really sweetens the deal. All in all I think this watch is a great value, and I highly recommend checking out New Zealand's own, Magrette watches.
Lastly, my Globemaster is number 136/500. That's it. Talk about exclusivity. Fred, the owner, answers his own phone, writes his own emails and stands by his word with a two-year warranty, a third generation watchmaker in his employ, and a beautiful presentation in a wooden, lined box with hand-written warranty card. Simply purchasing this watch felt like an experience from the days when service and quality were paramount. The timepiece itself continues that feeling.
The BR Heritage will arrive in two model sizes, the 46mm wide BR Heritage BR 01-92, and the 42mm wide BR Heritage BR 03-92. Each comes with the (very slick looking) new branded thick leather strap. The case itself will have a different finish as well. Instead of the more modern machined look as the original line, the BR Heritage will have a bead-blasted carbon powder coating on the steel case — giving it a vintage aircraft instrument look. Inside the watch is still the ETA automatic mechanical 2892-2 movement.
Oddly enough, the watch industry has incredible difficultly getting decent low-cost watch winders out to us. For that reason you will find that most of the affordable ones are Chinese made, unless you want to spend many hundreds or thousands of dollar for something basic that is American or European made. Having said that, a lot of Chinese made watch winders are pure garbage. I've had some that die consistently within a few months. For that reason it is important to get one that you can trust, or at least maintain yourself cheaply. On the plus side, a lot of the Chinese made watch winders are cheap enough to be "disposable" to a degree. Today I am going to review a Chinese made watch winder with what I am told has a Japanese motor, that significantly adds to the value, as Japanese motors are far superior to what China typically produces on a mass level. I don't mean to sounds as though I am bashing Chinese goods, but rather that the reality is that much of their goods are so low quality, and in such great numbers, as it overshadows the good things being manufactured in China these days.
