Again, the case, caseback, crown, strap, buckle, and other external features of the watch are great. Even the super thick 12-sided sapphire crystal over the dial is cool. Then again, the dial itself isn't bad or anything, I just feel a desire for a bit more, and I know that Corum can give it to me. The Deep Hull 48 isn't a bad watch, or a bad buy, but I feel that given Corum's new found effort on design and polish, they can do a bit better. Any I have no doubt that they will. With just 500 pieces in titanium, and 255 pieces in black titanium, this limited edition set will set the stage for better and more beautiful Corum dive watches to come in the near future.

In between the hour indicators is a scale for the 24 hour hand. You could also say that the hour indicators double as 24 hour scale indicators as well. This integration look neat, and ensures that the watch retains a traditional 60 minute diver's bezel as opposed to a  GMT bezel. Such GMT watches with traditional dive bezels aren't that easy to find. The GMT hand is a classic red and white arrow, but I think Essex would have been OK if they made the GMT hand a bit larger in size.

Titanium offers a new look and feel for Ananta. The weight of the watch is very light. Amazingly so actually. While the steel Ananta watches aren't exactly heavy given their size, the titanium case and bracelet feel like the steel model would if it was on the moon. Of course the color is a bit different and so is the finish on the case. Steel Seiko Ananta watches have Seiko's beloved "blade polishing." This high-grade polish doesn't exactly work the same on titanium, but at the same time, Seiko polished titanium very well. I recall when titanium was first used on watches how terrible the finish was. How far we have come with the metal. If you aren't holding the watch and feeling how light it is, you can tell the watch is titanium by its slightly grayer color as compared to steel.

Attached to the watch is a matching tungsten bracelet that is pretty comfortable and nice looking. Again, the overall look of the watch is acceptable and conservative. A respectable looking timepiece that isn't gonna win any beauty contests, but looks nice, and is a good value for the price. The case has a sapphire crystal and the case is water resistant to 30 meters.

Description BVL 312, mechanical self-winding chronograph caliber

Vonlatomic is a special collection of watches for the Volna watch brand by talented watch design Yvan Arpa. I've discussed Mr. Artya at length because I respect his masculine, artistic approach to watch design. The careful designer spends a lot of time thinking about the best way to execute his wild ideas. His work feels very much like an extension of himself. Each watch being something he himself would proudly wear - truly art for the artist. Many people don't like Yvan's creations. It is easy to be mystified by the thought behind the pop-art style, or sometimes just plain weird watches. Though most passionate artists tend to attract a degree of controversy when it comes to the tastefulness or appeal of their work. For Yvan, timepieces are a palette - the medium through which he likes to create.

The idea of taking a wrist watch and transforming it into a pocket is less common than the other way around. Having a piece that can go back and forth between wrist watch and pocket watch is much rarer still. Sure it is a novelty, but I think it is one that Chopard executes rather nicely in the case of their new L.U.C Louis Ulysse watch. L.U.C (I am just going to write LUC for brevity) labeled watches in the Chopard line as those that have their in-house made movements. At least this is my understanding. LUC might even stand for Louis Ulysse Chopard, not 100% clear on this. Well nevertheless, this piece is a direct tribute to the man.

One thing that is hard to tell is that the middle section of the case is actually all black - all DLC black for that matter. Now even Bulgari is on the DLC bandwagon. Another wave goodbye to PVD. Just part of this complex case. Below you will see an "explosion" image of the case - which is made out of 104 parts. I love it that some watch cases are 2 or 3 parts, and some are over 100 parts. The most complex case winner is still the Nubeo Black Mamba. The Diagono X-Pro is 45mm wide, with a case made out of steel, DLC coated steel, and titanium. There is also rubber coatings on the crown and chronograph pushers (in addition to the rubber strap). The front and back of the watch have sapphire crystals (front crystal is highly AR coated).

With a notable and respected third-party author, as well as a grand tale to tell, the IWC book served most of its purposes relatively well. But that alone wouldn’t get it a ton of attention outside the world of watch lovers and IWC aficionados. So IWC decided that it wanted to sex things up a bit, so that their new investment would get noticed by even more people, and further entice people to check it out that might not otherwise.

Essex La Primera GMT Watch Review Wrist Time Reviews

What is interesting is that Perriard's last stint was at Concord. There he helped construct the revitalization of the brand as well as the C1 collection. A watch line that I did not like. Perriard and I had some interesting discussion about it, but it was all mute once he left Concord. From ultra high-end to high volume, he has totally changed his pace by moving to TechnoMarine. I finally got to meet with Vincent last month. A charismatic guy, I feel bad for Concord having lost him. He understands marketing and hype. I think he will do a good job pushing the new TechnoMarine message with a line of watches that won't break the bank. He thinks in color, and it shows in the models. Each feels like candy that isn't too sweet. Meaning the designs satisfy, but not in a way that will burden your eyes after prolonged exposure.

The GA100 (aka GA-100) collection is not without its quirks, but overall it is a great watch. Casio calls it the "X-Large Combi" because the case is a bit big, and it is a combination of both analog hands and four small LCD screens. This mixture of both elements has been done before, but works in a very stylish and fun manner here. Aside from just the hip, industrial style of the watch, it has some less than common features for Casio timepieces. First is the 1/1000 of a second stopwatch (chronograph) function. When you need such precision, or how reliable your fingers are when it comes to such small variations in time - I don't know. But what I do know is that you have the ability to measure very small differences in time, which makes this a bona fide gadget watch!

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver Watch On A Boat Watch Releases

The first new Zenith watch of 2010 that I saw bored me to sleep at night. It wasn't a bad watch, but it just didn't do anything for me except remind of all the other watches that look like it. Now I learn about another new for 2010 timepiece that I actually do like (though it is not very practical). It isn't the neatest watch in the world, but it does take a very uncommon complication and places it into 1970s retro sport watch (why? Don't ask why... What? You know better than the Swiss?). Jaeger-LeCoultre released a watch with the same complication this year, but in a more classy traditional style watch. The complication is a foudroyante, and Zenith is specially equipped to make one. A foudroyante (also known as a "jumping seconds" watch) is a watch with a chronograph that is able to measure fractions of a second, done via a dedicated dial. The Jaeger-LeCoultre watch does more things as a watch, but doesn't have as fancy a foudroyante being able to measure only 1/6th of a second. Using its El Primero movement that runs at a higher rate of 36,000 beats per a minute, Zenith is able to measure 1/10th of a second because its movement beats 10 times per a seconds.
