There are just some of the most important tips. I will be happy to answer any specific questions if you contact me.
So lets see what we have here. A large, no make that really large 52mm rose gold case (that'll set you back at least ,000 right there alone), that has titanium and PVD coated steel in the mix. The strap is rubber, and the internals are a complex tourbillon chronograph movement sourced from, well someone else (BNB actually). The watch is rated to dive to 300 meters, though no one will likely ever dive with one of these massive watches. The face of the watch is a complex skeletonized look, with a pattern that appears to be a straight on look at a submarine complete with the observation deck. Cute touch, if it didn't take away so much from the legibility. The amalgamation of lines and angles, and everything else going on with the watch is just too much for anyone to focus on any one feature. Personally, my take on the face design is similar to a train wreck, I can't stop looking at it, but only because it is a terrible tragedy. No doubt some people will appreciate the watch for its brazen ostentatious demeanor, but those with taste just may cower from the sheer overwhelming eyesore which is this Aquanautic watch.
The first thing you will notice about the watch is the asymmetric positioning of the dial, and the large candy colored crown and pushers. It takes a while for this to sink in, realizing this is not something you are used to, but can come to appreciate, even prefer. The large yellow, blue, and red balls immediately contrast with the industrial looking angles and curves of the rest of the watch which are in black anodized aluminum. The original also used a black anodized aluminum case. The result is a construction which is light with a good texture, and does not appear at all cheap. Build quality is good, and pushers are solidly in place. In fact, the pushers are one of the best features of the watch. Not only do they charm you with their colorful appearance, but they are wonderfully ergonomic. Anyone who has a qualm with having large balls on your watch will immediately dismiss such issues once they are able to operate the watch using them. Color wise, they are a bit lighter than I would like. I personally would have preferred a deeper yellow, blue, and red, but this is a personal preference. Tallon's genius really comes through when you can immediately appreciate the aesthetic and functional benefits of the ball pushers and crown the first moment you use them.

Then Casio got the idea of a watch with lots of the features of the Pathfinder series in a more handsome analog format. The Oceanus line was christened, and the world now has a line of better looking watches for information crazy. The calling card of each Oceanus watch is that it is solar powered and is accurate as it relies on signals from the atomic clock (available in Japan, US, UK, and Germany). The watch reads ambient radio signals the included countries transmitted from official atomic clocks know for extreme accuracy. Thus, with Oceanus watches you never need to set the time or worry that you are off. If you are in a country that does not have an atomic clock signal system, there is a manual override.Read more ›
Movement - Automatic Blu-Orbit, manufactured on an ETA 2892A base (modified for the rotating window that functions are the minute indicator)
The case is made from two pieces of steel in a satin finish that well compliments the sheen of the dial and numbers from the enamel. The strap used is interesting as the padded leather type is commonly found on more active watches, rather then art watches. I like the contradiction here, because despite the very avant-garde look of this watch, it strives to be universal in wearability and appeal. Inside is automatic mechanical movement. No quartz here.

Most watches companies do not make their own movements. Quality watch makers buy their movements from mostly ETA, the Swatch Group owner mega movement maker. In 2010 however, ETA will stop selling its movements to outside companies. It will continue to provide movements for it's house brands, of which there are several. ETA is part of the Swatch Group which makes a number of brands as seen in the link. When ETA stops providing movements to out-side brands, they will have to go elsewhere for movements.
A favorite of mine is Giger's "Crosswatch" which take a Swatch watch and crosses the straps. While simple, it is not an obvious use of the straps and results in making the friendly Swatch far more Gothic in character. Though not the pinnacle of utilitarian, I am surprised not to see other watches that incorporates this strap crossing idea. The weave pattern created would no doubt incorporate well with the right outfit. Giger certainly does not disappoint with his art, my only dismay that they may never be commercially available as functional watches. Giger impresses with his take on the most recognizable watches around.
The Fins know how to make computer based watches. Suunto is Finland based, and has been making excellent watches for years with dizzying amounts of technology that still manage to look good. If the people behind the Wearfone have their way, they should be available by the end of the year for purchase. Pricing is between about 0 - ,500. This price, while high for a mobile phone, is reasonable for a watch that does this much. Look forward to more information as it becomes available.Read more ›
Star Wars lore seems to indicate that some who are strong in the force can see into the future to an extent. Does this mean they inherently know what time it is? Darth Vader does not wear a watch, though his suit might tell him what time it is. This very cool Darth Vader costume is on sale right now on Buy.com (pictured, click to go to product page). The costume is not cheap as far as Halloween costumes go, but it is high quality, and suitable for many occasions whether you are scaring little kids or participating in a fan event. You get the cape, jump suit, helmet, and rugged injection molded armor pieces. All I think you need to provide are black shoes and a light saber. After seeing this costume, I thought to myself, what watches would go well with this outfit?
Most watches worn are made of steel. But not all steel is made alike. Even the term "stainless steel" can be placed on a variety of steel grades. It is important to know that steel is really a family of alloys which involve combining iron with many other metals including nickel, magnesium, zinc, and many others. Other than the mere mixture, the whole process of making steel varies. Because of this, the steel in a Rolex watch and the steel in a Fossil watch, are worlds apart.
Those more vested in watch movement will of course have more to say about the inner workings of the C1 Chronograph. While interested in the concept of course, it is the external elements which make one lust after a watch. The Concord C1 has a display back, but the movement inside lacks any decoration or particular interest. You are simply reassured that a mechanical movement does in fact live inside your new investment.Read more ›
So, let's get on to some watches I think would do a good job in helping the island lifestyle. This is by no means a complete list, and you are encouraged to bring up your own suggestions and thoughts. Remember, for this exercise, price is no consideration, but the choices below range for several hundred dollars to many thousands.

5. Just because they don't take Paypal, does not mean it is a sham. Sure Paypal gives you comforting insurance, but not all sellers want to go with it because it takes a cut of their money. If everything else seems kosher, but they don't take Paypal, it should not break the deal.
