While not knowing the details behind the C1's design, it is hard to accuse Concord or the new CEO of bad taste, or hasty decision making. Viewing the end product of any campaign is not a full telling of the efforts and intentions that went into the process. I therefore cannot say that this is a bad watch, or indicative of future watches to come out of Concord's new rule. I can however say that from a design perspective, this watch fails to live up to what a ,000 -,000 watch should be. No doubt many will be impressed by the Concord C1's bold and assertive looks. Others however will take issue with the many incomplete elements of the watch. The bottom line is that the C1 is not meant to be a cash cow for Concord. It is intended to bring attention to the brand. So that the new styling of the La Scala, Saratoga, and Mariner that I anticipate will arrive soon, will be all the more noticed by the watch loving public. These mainstream watches will be more important to Concord's future, and I can hope they will be given the necessary design treatments.
They offer a condition status on the watches as well. They are so kind with their "vintage" label. Which basically is a nice way of saying that these watches are beat up badly, which some of them in fact are. I will hand it to Portero that they have a relatively well sized inventory, but I don't know how often it moves, and what demographic site appears to focus on. Perhaps those few dedicated buyers who just must have a particular watch, at any price, in any condition. Also, per their "Tourneau" partnership, they seem to get a large flow of previously owned watches..99

Like some of you, I spend a good deal of time perusing websites for watch information. Be it pricing information, reviews, or just a place that I just learn about new watches, there does not seem to be one place, or even a few places to go where I can find a good collection of information. Added to that, watch manufacturer websites are often a disgrace. Sure they often appear fancy, but after the 4 minutes they take to load, you are presented with confusing Flash screens, animations, and other pointless garbage. Consider yourself lucky if you find watch price information on any of those sites. So if manufacturer websites are often not worth visiting, where do you go?
Look closely at the texture on the exposed areas of the dial and you will see a ridge pattern. This looks attractive, but also tricks the eyes into thinking the surface is a bit more opaque than it actually is. I am actually amazed at how little space on the dial needs to be reserved for this purpose though. I don't think that the subdials share this light permeable quality. Kudos to the Citzen Eco-Drive movement for being so adaptable. Given the movement, the Citizen Campanola Eco-Drive watches feature an energy reserve so that you know when they need to be taken out of the case and worn a bit. Further complications are impressive, with a 12 hour chronograph, peripheral date indicator, and smiling moonphase indicator.
The concept of an authorized dealer is simple. You cannot sell a watch unless the manufacturer authorizes you to do so. They will only authorize you to sell a watch if your store is nice enough, you maintain a good image, keep prices above a regulated minimum, and promise not to place watches on the gray market. In exchange you get the supreme honor of selling for them and being able to tout you are an authorized dealer. The benefit to the consumer is that they know watches purchased from an authorized dealer are real, and that warranty and service claims will be honored by the manufacturer.
Without a doubt, the Rolex Sea-Dweller is one of my favorite watches of all time. It represents everything I look for in a watch of this sort: simplicity, quality, functionality, and stark beauty.
This Citizen Campanola minute repeater is a rare appearance on eBay. The watch sits large on the wrist and makes a stunning appearance with its hand painted face and deep blue dials contrasted against a classic white textured background. One of the major draws of the Campanola series has been the affordable nature of the complications you are getting. The Campanola watches each utilize the absolute highest grade quartz movements available. A mechanical watch with similar complications would cost upwards of ,000. It is my hope that Citizen Campanola watches represent a new trend in where design and functionality are going, offering sophisticated functionality and aesthetics, at prices which are not astronomical.
The Temption CGK203 is a rare watch. All Temption watches are for that matter. I read that only 1100 CGK203 were ever made, very few of those made it to the US I assume. I was told that by the person I purchased the watch from (on eBay), that it was originally purchased from the president of Temption at Basel World in Switzerland. Luckily it came with the original box and all the papers. I am proud to own it, even if no one has ever heard of the brand. When it comes down to it, each watch I own should make me smile when I look at it, not sit on my wrist to impress anyone else.
Alternatively, eBay provides a better environment to scope out and find desirable time pieces.
